There’s something almost indescribably delightful about collaborating with people who share your vision, values, and passion for creating stellar work. Together, you’re able to spark a collective state of flow, where individual ideas and insights ignite inspiration in others — acting as a force multiplier to amplify creativity and deliver meaningful results.
It’s especially true for content teams that must work closely to not only ideate and create great content but also provide the strategic vision and operational chops to orchestrate it, all while navigating around organizational siloes and obstacles.
Lessons in Content Chemistry
This is the magic that happens when you’re able to do cool work with cool people. It’s the bar I try to set for myself as an independent consultant — and an opportunity I am giddy to pursue with Erika and Pam.
That doesn’t mean you and your team must all bring the same things to the party. Just as the multi-talented team of criminal specialists in Ocean’s 11 collaborates to pull off an audacious triple-heist, B2B content teams need the right combination of ring leaders, safecrackers, and acrobats to succeed.
“Each of us can show up in our own way, but the choice is the same: to lead, to create work that matters, and to find the magic that happens when we are lucky enough to co-create with people who care.”
– Seth Godin, The Song of Significance
This can be difficult in a corporate environment, where you may have little choice about who’s on your team or how much influence you have within your organization. But by bringing in special teams that complement your own it’s possible to leap over the barriers and lead.
The Power of Three (n3)
Our little CAOS collective is more Charlie’s Angels than Ocean’s 11 (although we sure as hell don’t answer to anyone named Bosley). We bring our individual talents, experiences, and styles together to forge a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts — each complementing and balancing the others to create triadic harmony**.
Our goal isn’t to run the table*** or flip it over but to help cool content teams like yours take a well-earned seat.
Sound like fun? Drop us a line and see how we can work together!
* Speaking of cool people (Part 1), artist and improvocateur Gary Hirsch created the rad illustration at the top of this post, and he’s as cool as they come. At the beginning of 2024, he invited people to share their mantra for the new year, which he would illustrate. Mine was “Cool work with cool people,” and this is what Gary drew for me.
** Speaking of cool people (Part 2): My super-smart, super-cool pal Kate ”Loves Math” Ertmann will blow your mind with her perspectives on harmony and triangles and other mathematical concepts that are highly relevant to your life and work.
